Fall hikes rank among most beautiful
Fall hikes rank among the most beautiful ways of getting out to enjoy hiking and outdoor living. If you live in a part of the country where any of the foliage changes colors in autumn, you (like me) are among the most blessed. Here are some great ideas for fall hikes and fall camping trips.
What do you do if you live in a part of the country where the leaves don't change colors, or hardly change colors, and a crisp, clear fall day is only a memory or a dream for you. Well, first of all, I'm guessing there is a beach or river near you, because most such regions are in the south and southwest here in the U.S. So enjoy your beach treks and lake/ocean/river cruises! That may be your idea of the best possible way to enjoy outdoor living, no matter what "season" of the year it is.
But, if you DO want to experience the weather and beauty of the seasons even if you live in a non-seasonal climate, there are some definite "doable" fall hikes and autumn hiking options -- you may have to take a trip to enjoy what the rest of us are talking about! For example, there are many, many spectacular fall foliage tours you can book right now in New England, New York, and to a wide variety of locations in the Upper Midwest and Canada, where you'll find some wonderful locations for fall hikes and fall camping trips.
So if autumn doesn't come to you and you're doing a bit of traveling to find fall hiking locations, make sure you consider the many wonderful national parks we have available in the U.S. Locations in Colorado, California, and Montana (yes, Montana) are generally beautiful in the autumn and truly merit a look. Other locations on the Atlantic Coast -- Maine, for example -- have wonderfully rugged state and national parks for fall hikes and hiking. Likewise, the Pacific Northwest offers great locations in forests east of the Pacific Coast in Oregon and Washington.
Don't pass up the opportunity this fall to get in one or two hiking or camping trips to get outdoors and enjoy the beauties of autumn, either where you live or where you can travel. Mother Nature dresses up in some of her best outdoor finery in the fall. Go take a look for yourself!
